Hetzner raised prices twice in 2026: what changed and the cheapest alternatives
Hetzner was the default "cheap but good" VPS for years. In 2026 it raised prices twice. Here is what changed, quoted from Hetzner itself, and what the same server costs elsewhere today.
What changed
- 1 April 2026. Hetzner said rising hardware and running costs forced price increases for both new orders and existing products (Hetzner statement).
- 15 June 2026, 8:00 CEST. A second increase for new orders and cloud rescales on all dedicated servers and cloud plans at all locations, alongside a new fixed dedicated-server line-up and lower setup fees. Currently rented servers were not affected (Hetzner press release, new price list).
- Not affected in June: web hosting, managed servers, Server Auction, IPs, storage, Load Balancers, Volumes, Snapshots and Object Storage.
- How big? heise online calculated an average rise of 99% for German cloud servers, 158% in the US and just under 78% in Singapore, with a US CPX41 going from €38.99 to €120.49 a month (heise, 15 June 2026).
Tip from Hetzner's own FAQ: if you still run a server on old pricing, rescaling it moves it to the new prices.

- When did Hetzner raise prices in 2026?
- Twice. On 1 April 2026 for both new orders and existing products, and on 15 June 2026 at 8:00 CEST for new orders and cloud server rescales.
- Are existing Hetzner servers affected by the June 2026 increase?
- No. Hetzner says currently rented servers are not affected by the 15 June change, but rescaling a cloud server, or some changes to legacy-priced servers, can move it to current pricing.
- Which Hetzner products did not go up in June 2026?
- Hetzner lists web hosting, managed servers, Server Auction servers, IPs, storage products, Load Balancers, Volumes, Snapshots and Object Storage as unaffected.
