How we score

Every score is calculated from facts each provider publishes. We record the date we last checked their pricing page and link to it on every review.

The formula (0–10)

• Starting price — 30%. $3/month or less scores 10, falling to 4 at $30/month. Euro prices are converted roughly at 1.1.
• Renewal increase — 20%. No price rise on renewal scores 10; a renewal at double the intro price scores 5.
• Refund & billing — 10%. A 30-day money-back guarantee scores 10, hourly pay-as-you-go billing scores 8, a shorter refund 6, none 4.
• Uptime guarantee — 20%. A 100% SLA scores 10, 99.9% scores 9 and 99.5% scores 5. No published SLA scores 5.
• Features — 20%. Included features such as backups, DDoS protection and snapshots, up to six.

What we don't claim

We don't publish benchmark results we haven't run. Promotions are listed only when the provider advertises them, with a link to the source. Always confirm the final price on the provider's site.

Independence

Some links earn us a commission. That never changes the formula, and we list hosts with no affiliate programme too.
